The purpose of Life
Everybody has his own point of view about the purpose of life.
some people say that
1: We believe that we are sent to earth to get a body, have families and follow all of God's commandments to return to live with Him.
2: The purpose of life is simply this: To prepare to meet God. The steps to get there is where it gets a little bit more complex. We came here to earth to gain a body, through the fall of Adam and Eve we then gained the ability to choose between good and evil. This allowed us to go through trials and tests, not because God likes to see us suffer, but because He loves to see us grow and learn so that we can become more like Him. All this growth and learning is best cultivated in the family, this is where we learn best what being the parent of another life really entails, so that when we grow up (spiritually) and become like our Heavenly Father we can have all that He has and know what to do with it.
3: The purpose of this life is to find joy. We do this through a number of ways. First of all, it is really cool having a body. Without a body, we could never learn or grow or become like our Heavenly Father. Second, we gain happiness by obeying God's laws. The scriptures say that wickedness never was happiness. So, obedience to God's laws brings happiness. Last of all, but definitely not least, our families. Our families bring us happiness in this life. I can't living in Heaven without my family, so beign eternally happy must involve my family. By being righteous in this life and doing God's will, I, with my family, can gain eternal happiness and live with God again.
4:We came to this earth to learn, to discover and practice our agencey. and with that agencey expirience the consequenses thereof. good or bad. We came to belive, to gain faith, and to exercise that faith. We came to see if we would be obedient to Gods laws if pressured by satans influenses. But most of all, we came to gain a body grow families and discover true joy. If we are worthy to go to the temple then when this life is over, instead of a "till death do you part" you get your hapilly "eternal" after, where you and your spouse with continue together with your children next to you in pure complete joy!
5:The purpose of life is to progress. From childhood to adulthood we learn, grow and progress. I believe life is made of learning and progressing. I believe this opportunity to progress goes on after this life too. The opportunity to grow and progress is one of the foundation of happiness. I can choose what I want to do, what I want to study, the people I'm with, the family I have and more. All of these choices and and more and their consequences bring about change. That change can be progression and happiness.
But what "Islam" and "Quran "say about that ..
As Muslims we believe in the one and only Creator Allah. He is the only One worthy of worship and has indeed created us for a purpose. He has sent many Messengers and Prophets to guide humanity to the straight path, with Muhammad (pbuh) being the Final Messenger and the Quran being the Final Revelation.
Allah says in the Quran that we were indeed created for a purpose beyond that of mere play and enjoyment.
“Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?” (Quran 23:115)
Allah states that the reality of this life is one of deception and we should not fall for its temporary enjoyments.
“Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children – like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.” (Quran 57:20)
Allah assures us that the reality of this life is that each and everyone of us is being tested, and we will be brought back to our Lord in account for every deed we have performed, both the good and the bad.
“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.” (Quran 67:2)
Allah also teaches us that the purpose of life is to also worship Him alone without associating partners with Him. This does not necessarily mean praying 24 hours a day with our face planted on the ground, but rather live our lives in obedience to God in accordance with the moral code outlined in the Quran. This includes being kind to your parents, relatives, neighbours, the poor and the needy. It also means fuliflling the commands of God whether it is to perform the 5 daily prayers, pay the Zakat (Charity), fast the month of Ramadan and perform the Hajj (Pilgrimage).
